need to be recut into a modern sparkling new cut. This recut will sometimes increase the color grade and positively increase scintillation.

The price is $15/carat for basic cuts and $22.50/carat for designer cuts. Faceted gems get
small, flat, geometric faces called facets, while cabochons have
curved surfaces. The transparency of the stone determines if the gem will be a
faceted gem or cabochon. Facet
grade stones are transparent to semitransparent. Cabochon grade is translucent
to opaque.
