Thank you for visiting The Gemcutter.

My business today was a  development that started in the late eighties digging for emeralds in Hiddenite, located in Alexander County, North Carolina. In 1879, W. E. Hidden discovered the green gem variety of the mineral spodumene. The stone and town were named Hiddenite in his honor.

After finding a variety of rough gemstones in Hiddenite, I was fascinated by the process of transforming these colored pebbles into beautiful fashioned gemstones. Learning the art of gemstone cutting and attended gem shows to gather knowledge  led me to become a Gemologist and Gemcutter. During the development years I had to contract goldsmiths to set loose gemstones sold to customers. The only solution was to become a goldsmith myself.

I have a jewelry school in gem cutting, gemology and goldsmithing that has
been running since 1996. You can take 1 day or 6 weeks on a schedule that works for you. I specialize and teach the repair of damaged gemstones that in most cases will fit back into the old setting.

Some people that visit the flume lines in the mountains of North Carolina mail their stones in from all over the United States for evaluation to be cut. People
in the Carolinas make appointments to bring their stones in for evaluation. You can find settings in my catalogs and have me to set your stones into   jewelry.

I am a member of the United States Facetors Guild and Charlotte Gem & Mineral Club, also below are Diploma's I received in Gemology, Jewelry
  Repair and Diamond Setting.
